The JAX Chamber Board of Directors urges the Jacksonville City Council to support the Downtown Preservation and Revitalization Program.

The program is designed to encourage developers to preserve and revitalize historic buildings as part of the overall redevelopment of downtown Jacksonville. The program will allow developers to apply for loans to make necessary renovations and reuse the buildings for a variety of uses, including residential, office and retail. Projects would still be subject to approval from the City Council.

Redeveloping downtown Jacksonville is a top priority for the Chamber, which is committed to supporting policies that encourage attracting investment, jobs and residents downtown.

“Incorporating historic buildings into transformational projects can give downtowns the unique character that attracts residents, visitors and investors,” JAX Chamber Chair Henry Brown said. “This is an important step in the continued resurgence in downtown Jacksonville and we look forward to the creative and innovative redevelopment that will follow.”
